Why People Love #LAXPlore
"If you're wondering if LAXplore is really worth it, let me tell you; it is. You're trying out a new city all the while you're surrounded by familiar faces. You'll meet an array vital industry professionals ranging from working actors to casting directors to agents and managers; every one of them eager to offer their perspective. You're supported by the kindest, most generous staff you could imagine. You'll spend four very intense, very long and very valuable days networking, performing and absorbing more than you could have anticipated. Should you stay in LA after the program, you'll be off to a running start, complete with a few friendly faces. If you find yourself back in New York, you have a whole new batch of tools you can use to become better than you were when you left. Everything is set up for your success. Every detail is carefully considered. All you need to" - Chris Carfizzi
“LAXplore is a must for any actor who is serious about a Film/TV Career. I am so happy that I went on this trip when I did. Not for the faint of heart, it was a 4 day marathon of work and industry feedback! It pushed me to consider all of the possibilities available, if you are willing to leave your comfort zone of New York City. That being said, the nice, warm, security blanket of AGR certainly helped me keep my head on straight as all of this information was just pouring in. LA was all about the journey of the actor and that was freeing. No longer am I burdened by that one role, that one meeting, that flash in the pan! If you fully invest in this trip, and keep an open mind, I think you will be surprised by what you get back. ” – Alison Whitney
"LAXplore for me was amazing! I had seen the emails about it, but only considered it when two people who are very close to me suggested we all do it. At first I was skeptical. I mean, I had no plans of picking up and moving to LA anytime soon. Yet, LA is where I want to be eventually anyway. So after some nudging, I decided to sign up and, thankfully, was one of the last couple of people to do so. I'd almost missed it! I'd done my consultation with Jen a few months earlier and so it was easy to pick my sides. I printed my headshots, resumes, business cards. I was ready. But when I left New York, I had no idea what I was in for. Beyond golden information that I've already begun applying to my auditions and "business" dealings here in NYC, I got amazing feedback that I in no way expected. I left LA armed with clear plans about how I'm going to run my business (my acting career), feeling empowered to take things in the direction that I want them to go, and with ready-made connections in LA for when I want to make that move. By the way, "that move" is now more of an imminent possibility than I ever thought. I highly recommend LAXplore to East Coast actors, even if they're not thinking of moving to the West Coast in the near future. It's an awesome experience that will enrich your career wherever you are!" - Noelle LuSane
"Jen is always amazing and mother incarnate and there to listen and always wants to hear our feedback and make things better....she's fantastic. And Amy was always there for us - for whatever we needed - to talk to - to listen to - any questions, comments, or concerns were totally ok with her. And I don't think people really understand or value the importance of a good reader. Julia is one of the BEST READERS EVER. She's a freaking actor and gives it her all and gives you so much back….If this second trip for me didn't solidify me wanting to move out to LA - I would do it a THIRD TIME - you guys are amazing....honestly….." - Elyssa Phillips
"The LAXplore trip in October was amazing! Not only did we have the opportunity to meet and audition for top rate CD’s and Managers, but to do so in the company of Canedy, Amy, and Jen herself was invaluable. The atmosphere couldn’t have been more supportive. In the few short days we were there we got a taste for the LA market, as well as tons of information and guidance about how to make the move to LA successfully, which is the kind of support that The Actor's Green Room does so well. Anyone who is serious about moving to LA, this trip is a MUST. Sure, you could go to LA with another company but this trip offers REAL audition scenarios and one on one time with every guest. It's by far the best one out there"- Rebecca Kush
"To sum it up...LAXplore was an amazing experience. I think what we did in a matter of four days surpassed what I feel most people accomplish in months. Not only did I make great industry connections and read for high quality casting directors, agents, and managers, I also met some great fellow AGR actors that I now consider friends. It felt like everyone was very supportive of each other, which made the time in LA much more enjoyable. I was also contacted by an agent we met a few days after I came back to NY who is very interested in me and wants me to keep in touch and update them on my advancements." - Kyle Klaus
"I would have written this on the plane, but I was afraid my sleep deprivation would compromise my use of descriptive vocabulary. I cannot say enough about my experience with The Actor's Green Room in LA. From the brilliant partnership with The Actor's Key to the Safari Inn and karaoke at Dimples, anyone would be hard-pressed to find an area to critique. My highest form of praise will be evident in my participation in the next LAXplore trip. Thanks to Jen, Canedy and Amy, all the details were taken care of and I was able to focus on my scenes and soak in the valuable feedback and advice offered by the panel of experts we were able to meet. The written and verbal feedback on my performance, headshot, preparedness and the overall impression I brought to the room created a clear picture of my progress and illuminated my path to continued to improvement. Some of the highlights included having a prominent casting director tell me, "there is no one like you out here," and our meeting with Jordan Ancel, which prompted me to set clear, measurable and time sensitive goals that are realistic. The enthusiasm and support I received was gratifying and exciting. I am ready for my next steps and feel confident in my ability to "nail my type" in the room and utilize resources like AGR and fellow actors to produce work that is important and creatively fulfilling. LAXplore was a whirlwind experience, the theme of which required and encouraged hard work. I would encourage any actor to participate in this unique and inspiring learning opportunity." - Vida Fernandez
"Thank You for everything! So grateful for all the insight and guidance you provided me before heading out! LAXplore allowed me the opportunity to meet one on one and audition for several LA CDs, and in just 4 days, using the scene you recommended, I was called in straight to Producers / Director for CRIMINAL MINDS. During the LAXplore workshops, I heard from CDs, "You're an actor's actor", "Get representation, and get submitted to me. I want to bring you in.", and "My mother is casting something that you'd be perfect for right now. I'm calling her tomorrow and getting you an audition." That CDs mother happened to be one of the top CDs in LA with over 25 years experience and 100+ films to her credit, including the Oscar winning classic, ORDINARY PEOPLE. Manager GiGi gave me her card and now we have a meeting set for next week, and ATB Talent brought me in the very next morning after a workshop, had me audition for their commercial dept., then offered me contracts for representation across the board. That was the same Friday, 1 week exactly since flying out to LA, that I was in the room with the same CD I met on Tues., auditioning for CRIMINAL MINDS. Currently, after a great meeting with Velocity Entertainment Partners, they have me preparing materials for multiple Agency meetings beginning next week." "Thank You Jen!!! I highly recommend LAXplore to anyone in NYC looking to focus their career in the Film / TV markets. There's no better way to come to LA, jumpstart your career, and hit the ground running, then with her. She literally met a producer out one night, a producer of an upcoming 12.5 million budget feature I might add, and had him in the very next day to meet with us. She makes things happen. Jen has the formula - find your type, your perfect scene, and your look / headshots, and make it happen. Jen's career consultations will lay out your blueprint for success, and then it's on you to execute. On top of all she does, she also has an amazing team surrounding her. Great group of people to have in your corner in this crazy Biz. If you're ready, get on board with LAXplore. Hope to be seeing some more NYC actors out West soon. Thank You Jen Rudolph. Forever Grateful." - Dustin Kerns
"Very last minute, I decided to hop on the LAXplore journey to LA, and I must say that it was probably the best decision I've ever made. First of all, the notes and information Jen gave me about my type and need for a new, professional, headshot were all right on target. Every casting director in LA loved my headshot, gave me amazing feedback on my scenes, told me that they liked my "type" and that it was perfectly suited for me (thanks to Jen)! Jen met a producer while we were out there and then brought him to meet us the very next day. If that's not magic, I don't know what is?! But that's just how Jen works - she's magnetic! - and she helps bring the opportunities to you. I've made some great connections with CDs out there and now I feel a newfound confidence in my acting abilities should I decide to take them out west. You want to go on this trip - it's a game-changing, life-altering, career-expanding opportunity. You would be a fool not to go." - Leah Lamarr
"Jen Rudolph is Superwoman. It's as simple as that. 18 wanderlusting actors followed our caped crusader out to LA for an incredibly informative, game-changing, immersive experience in the industry out there, and we were able to explore that scene with the comfort of knowing the AGR had our backs 100%. The trip was impeccably organized and put us all directly into the zeitgeist, connecting us with a killer lineup of industry guests, including informal chats with managers and producers that were just the icing on the cake. Flying under the banner of AGR gave us a great advantage in the industry, so that we were able to showcase our skills without worrying about how/when/where. The nitty-gritty was taken care of so we could all really shine. After meeting one CD at LA-Xplore, I was invited to breakfast with him later that week. Another pair of agents (Across the Board) invited me to meet with them when they come to New York in August. I got tons of positive feedback from nearly all the industry guests, BUT! Even if I hadn't, I left LA with a MAJOR fire lit under my me. I found my hustle, again, which has been lying dormant under the rock of NY ennui for a few years. I'm newly inspired, ready to go, and back on top of my game. I have never used this many cliches in an email before, but they come from a real place. I cannot thank Jen, Canedy, Kim, and all of the AGR enough: without LAXplore, I would NOT be ready to jump into the murky waters of LA, but now I am READY. Bring it!!!! - Lyssa Mandel
"As an actor in NYC, I've been working consistently in professional musical theatre for the past 10 years. I've been interested in checking out LA for sometime, so when AGR announced LAXplore, I jumped at the opportunity. I'm looking to make the transition into TV and film, and the knowledge I gained and contacts I made during the week I was in LA were completely invaluable. The casting directors, agents, managers, producers, and other industry folk who took part in the program offered constructive feedback on not only the scenes I performed (which Jen found for me and which completely "nail" my type), but also on my headshot, resume, my "type", and offered tips and tricks on making the transition from theatre to television and on making the move from NYC to LA. I would HIGHLY recommend LAXplore to anyone who is curious about the LA scene, whether you just want to check it out or have already decided to move out west." - Matt Gregorio
"Unlike many of my group mates who knew they wanted to eventually relocate, I went to LA not having a clear idea. What I gained on the trip was invaluable: major contacts and LA perspective. As soon as I returned home I followed up with everyone we met on the trip: CDs, agents, managers, working LA actors. One film producer who came to speak with us (who was not on the initial itinerary but Jen hustled and got him in!) emailed me back and offered to have coffee with me next time I'm in LA, which hopefully will be soon. One manager emailed me back, which means now she knows who I am. It's a town of who-knows-who and this trip gave us the first links to our own "6 Degrees to Kevin Bacon" (or whoever you want to work with in your career). Some of my group mates now have plans to relocate, but I'm comfortable with becoming actively bicoastal. The NY and LA markets are so different that now I know how to play both; this trip is ideal for those who don't know if they want to move yet, or if they know they want to remain bicoastal." - Anna Suzuki
