Do you ever leave an audition or watch yourself on camera and feel like there is a "special spark" missing? Some call it spontaneity, living in the moment, freedom in your work - and it all starts with you.
Make your work authentic. Get practical tools to ensure you bring YOU to your work in an honest, personal, and authentic way. Dates/Times:
Tuesdays, September 29th, October 6th, 13th, 20th, & 27th 2015 11AM-1PM Capacity: 8 students total Location: AGR, 15 West 28th Street, 9th Floor, NYC 10001 Cost: $400 Ages: 16 and up Week One: Story vs Monologue
Bring in a 1-2 minute story from your life as well as a 1-2 minute prepared monologue. We will workshop each person's monologue until they are sharing it with as much personalization as the story from their own life. Week Two: Cold Reads Learn how cold reads can actually awaken the muscle of listening and allow for more spontaneity in your work. Week Three: Thoughts Out Loud We will explore how your own thoughts end up serving the story. Week Four: Analysis vs Authenticity You will learn how to incorporate specific "choices" about the character without eliminating your authenticity. Week Five: Memorization You will learn the most productive way to memorize your lines so that it doesn't get in the way of spontaneity. Preparation
Please bring a prepared monologue as well as a 5-7 page scene from TV, film or Theatre. *Do not prepare the scene in advance. Each week we will explore a different tool in how to bring your full self to your work. Cancellation Policy
You may cancel and receive credit up to 7 days before the start date of the class. However, within 7 days of the start date of the class, no credit will be issued. Due to the nature and structure of this class, you will not receive credit or be able to make up any portion of this class for any reason if you cancel or miss a class after the start date. |

It's the first time I have been 'in the zone', working from my own genuine authentic place that was pure unbridled, unthought-out me since my return to acting (after 19 years) 7 months ago. This is not my first acting class, (I have been committed to driving in from CT weekly for my training) but it's the first time that I had a teacher intuitively work from the inside out and not just shout out guideposts! It was powerful!" - Dana Bruton
"I am gobsmacked! It's been a long time since I felt this good and this authentic in my work. What you're doing at AGR is full spectrum. With AGR Online I have access to real time current events and with the intensives I get to develop the relationships that this business thrives on. And now with Sarah's class I was able to get grounded and present in the craft and art of my work like never before. Sarah's class will better prepare me for the intensives I have scheduled in the Fall." - Ramona Floyd
"I wanted to send you a quick note about the 5 week scene study class I just took with Sarah Baskin. Sarah was amazing! I learned so much from her, both from watching her work with others and from the specific guidance and recommendations she gave me regarding my own work. It was incredible! I want to be able to bring my A game when I perform, and I can honestly say that Sarah has helped bring me closer to achieving that goal. I already signed up for her next class at AGR." - Stephanie Weppler
